Shahroz Sabzwari, Mariyam Nafees, Anoushey Ashraf, Zhalay Sarhadi, Noor Hassan, Nimra Khan and Armeena Khan joined too, along with Muniba Mazari, Sunita Marshall, Dua Malik, Haris Waheed, Nazish Jahangir and Hajra Yamin.
Fashion page Mashion reimagined Mahira Khan, Mawra Hocane, Ayeza Khan, Anmol Baloch, Sanam Saeed, Aina Asif and Zara Noor Abbas as 80s leading ladies, which started a debate about consent. Strings’ Bilal Maqsood skipped AI entirely and posted a real photo from the band’s early days.
Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra posted a hero-and-heroine pair (see their look and prompt). Kajal Aggarwal, Parineeti Chopra, Ravi Kishan, Abhay Verma, Ameesha Patel, and Sonakshi Sinha with Zaheer Iqbal followed. Malayalam TV stars Pearle Maaney, Jasmin Jaffar, Manju Pathrose and Arya Badai shared saree-era makeovers.
In Mexico the trend travelled as “cómo te verías en los 80s”. Thalía, Laura León, Julión Álvarez, Lupita TikTok, Brincos Dieras and Flor Rubio posted versions, and Adamari López, Natti Natasha, Amara La Negra, Gente de Zona and Lili Estefan joined from across the region. In Brazil, singer Leonardo put his AI portrait next to real 80s photos with his late brother Leandro and joked that the originals win.
In Bangladesh, Tausif Mahbub, Tasnia Farin and Ziaul Faruq Apurba shared their 80s looks on Facebook. On X the trend spread in Arabic, Turkish and Spanish. Not everyone was a fan: one of the most-liked posts simply complained about feeds full of 80s portraits.
